Barça wait on Messi recovery

FC Barcelona announced today that Lionel Messi will be rested for a week after sustaining a minor sprain to his right ankle, but did not comment on whether the Argentinian forward would be available for the UEFA Champions League visit of Chelsea FC.

The 19-year-old Argentinian suffered the injury during last night's 2-0 loss at Real Madrid CF and spent this morning undergoing tests. Barça medical staff expect him to be fit in a week and immediately ruled him out of Wednesday’s Copa del Rey match at CF Badalona. The Blaugrana then entertain RC Recreativo de Huelva on Saturday, four days before Chelsea arrive looking to cement a place in the knockout stages after beating the holders 1-0 in London.
