Olympique Lyonnais have received a double injury blow, but while forward César Delgado will only be sidelined for a fortnight due to a groin strain, midfielder Mathieu Bodmer is likely to miss the next two and a half months with a problem in the same area that requires surgery.
Double blow
Bodmer, who turns 26 on Saturday, will have his operation on Monday. The groin complaint has kept the versatile former LOSC Lille Métropole player sidelined since 5 October and his recovery will take a further ten weeks. He has appeared in eight Ligue 1 games and two UEFA Champions League matches this term. Delgado, meanwhile, will miss his side's Group F game at ACF Fiorentina on 25 November but, unlike Bodmer, should be fit for Lyon's final section fixture at home against FC Bayern München. The 27-year-old Argentinian pulled his left adductor after replacing Fred in the French champions' 2-1 league win over FC Girondins de Bordeaux. He has played in each of Lyon's last five games.
