PFC CSKA Moskva have signed Chilean international Mark González from Real Betis Balompié for a reported fee of €6.5m.
Five-year contract
The South African-born winger has agreed a five-year contract with CSKA, who enter the group stage of Europe's premier club competition next month by virtue of their second-place finish in the 2008 Russian Premier-Liga. González, 25, moved to Chile at the age of ten, beginning his career in 2002 with Club Deportivo Universidad Católica prior to spells in Spain with Albacete Balompié and Real Sociedad de Fútbol.
Final appearance
A move to Liverpool FC followed in 2006, where González received a UEFA Champions League runners-up medal, appearing eight times in their run to the final against AC Milan in Athens. In 2007 he signed for Betis, for whom he scored three goals in 20 Liga appearances last season as the Sevilla-based club were relegated from the Spanish top flight. CSKA currently lie third in Russia, four points adrift of leaders FC Rubin Kazan.
