Borussia Dortmund could be without captain Sebastian Kehl when travelling to Real Madrid CF for Tuesday's Group D meeting after the midfielder suffered a facial injury in Bundesliga action.
Kehl sustained the injury during Saturday's goalless draw with VfB Stuttgart and had to be substituted after 20 minutes. "It seems like only the nose is broken so there is a slim chance that he can be available on Tuesday," coach Jürgen Klopp said after the match.
The 32-year-old went to hospital on Sunday and had a special protective mask fitted during a procedure that lasted six hours, meaning there is a possibility the midfielder could appear in the Spanish capital. Kehl has played in all three of Dortmund's group matches this season, including the 2-1 win against Madrid in Germany on 24 October which left his side top of their section.
