Kapo captured by Monaco

The French international midfielder Olivier Kapo will spend next season on loan at AS Monaco FC from Juventus FC.

Heading home
The 24-year-old, capped nine times by his country, was eager to return home in the hope of securing his international place ahead of the 2006 FIFA World Cup finals. Kapo began his career with AJ Auxerre but left a year ago to move to Juventus on a five-year contract, only to start just two games in Italy – making 14 Serie A appearances in all.

European spotlight
Kapo found his path to the first team at the Delle Alpi blocked by Pavel Nedved, with coach Fabio Capello urging the player to be patient. However, Monaco boss and former Juve midfielder Didier Deschamps has stepped in to offer the player the chance of regular first-team football, including the UEFA Champions League after Monaco finished third in Ligue 1 to enter the competition in the third qualifying round.

Juve moves
Meanwhile, Juve have begun to strengthen for next season by swooping for defender Robert Kovac from FC Bayern München and S.S. Lazio midfielder Giuliano Giannichedda, although neither has been unveiled yet.
