Olympique Lyonnais goalkeeper Grégory Coupet has signed a contract extension tying him to the club until 30 June 2008. The 32-year-old's previous deal with the French champions expired in June 2007. "It will be another year of happiness," Coupet said. "We have everything we need here to improve and achieve the best results."
Trophy haul
Coupet joined Lyon from Ligue 1 rivals AS Saint-Etienne in June 1997. He has won four consecutive French titles with Lyon, and accrued a wealth of UEFA Champions League experience. "Greg has had an incredible influence since he arrived in tough conditions," club president Jean-Michel Aulas said.
International class
Coupet has also established himself as a French international and has 17 caps. He will compete with Fabien Barthez of Olympique de Marseille for a place in the team at the FIFA World Cup in Germany next summer.
