Article body
Héctor Cúper will remain as coach of Internazionale FC until 2005 after extending his current contract with the Italian club for a further two seasons today.
Consecutive finals
The Argentinian, who led former club Valencia CF to consecutive UEFA Champions League finals in 2000 and 2001, losing to Real Madrid CF and FC Bayern München respectively, replaced Marco Tardelli at the San Siro last summer.
Title agony
Cúper nearly guided Inter to the championship in his first season at the club, only to be denied the Scudetto on the final day of the season after losing to S.S. Lazio, Juventus FC taking advantage to wrest the title from the Milanese club's grasp.
'A great person'
The president of Inter, Massimo Moratti, said tonight of Cúper: "He is a great person and I'm really sorry about what happened last season." A man with the midas touch in the Champions League, Cúper will come up against Olympique Lyonnais, Rosenborg BK and AFC Ajax in the first group stage this season.
