Article body
FC Bayern München midfield player Mehmet Scholl will miss the UEFA Champions League quarter-final first leg against Real Madrid CF on Tuesday.
Out of action
The German international player sustained a leg injury during the 1. Bundesliga match against Hamburger SV on Saturday and will be out for action for at least ten days.
Another blow
Scholl had come on for Roque Santa Cruz in the 71st minute and had to leave the pitch just 15 minutes later. The 31-year-old midfielder had only just recovered from a back injury which had seen him out of action for four weeks.
No Figo
Madrid themselves will be without the services of 2001 FIFA World player of the Year Luis Figo after club doctors decided to give him more time to recover from an ankle injury.
'Not yet 100 per cent'
"Figo is training hard on his own, but he is not yet 100 per cent," club doctor Juan Carlos Hernandez said today. "He still has some pain and to avoid any risk of a recurrence of the injury he is not going to join the rest of the team for the game in Germany."
Duo included
There was better news though for Madrid ahead of Tuesday's encounter with the inclusion of both Zinedine Zidane and Santiago Solari in their squad despite picking up minor injuries during Saturday's 1-0 victory over Sevilla FC.
