Who should be my Champions League Fantasy Football captain for Matchday 8?

UEFA.com assesses the credentials of four potential Fantasy captains ahead of Matchday 8 of #UCLfantasy, presented by PlayStation.

Kylian Mbappé (€11.0m) vs Benfica (A)

With 11 goals in just six league phase appearances, Mbappé is comfortably the top scorer in this season's Champions League, the Frenchman adding a further two to his tally against former club Monaco on Matchday 7. Real Madrid will be looking to confirm direct passage to the round of 16 when they face Benfica in the final set of league phase fixtures and Mbappé should be one of the most popular captaincy choices given he is the highest-owned player and the leading points scorer.

Fermín López (€6.7m) vs Copenhagen (H)

Despite playing alongside the likes of Raphinha and Lamine Yamal, López heads into Matchday 8 as Barcelona's top Fantasy scorer. The midfielder earned the Player of the Match award – his second of the season – in the penultimate matchday of the league phase after scoring twice as Hansi Flick's side defeated Slavia Praha 4-2 in Czechia. Having also struck a hat-trick against Olympiacos on Matchday 3, López has five goals and two assists in this season's campaign. Barcelona are at home to 26th-placed Copenhagen as they seek a top-eight finish.

Noni Madueke (€6.6m) vs Kairat Almaty (H)

Fantasy managers in the market for a differential captain on Matchday 8 could be tempted by the appeal of Madueke, who has performed well when called upon in the Champions League this season. Arsenal's summer signing most recently featured on both Matchdays 5 and 6, scoring once against Bayern München and twice at Club Brugge, when he was named Player of the Match. The Gunners are at home to bottom side Kairat Almaty on Matchday 8 and Fantasy managers will be able to check Mikel Arteta's starting line-up before the deadline.

Harry Kane (€10.8m) vs PSV (A)

Kane owners will also be eager to see if the prolific striker is named in Bayern München's line-up at PSV Eindhoven. If he does start, the 32-year-old will again represent a premium captaincy choice. Kane's 2025/26 Bayern tally now stands at 34 goals in just 29 games following his double against Union Saint-Gilloise. No Fantasy forward earned more points than Kane's 13 on Matchday 7 and Mbappé is the only forward to score more points in the league phase.
