Four potential captains are under consideration as managers prepare for the UEFA Champions League semi-final first legs on Matchday 15 of UCL Fantasy, presented by PlayStation.
TUESDAY 28 APRIL
Khvicha Kvaratskhelia (€8.4m) vs Bayern München (H)
The leading Fantasy scorer this season, Kvaratskhelia is on 99 points heading into the semi-finals, his assist against Liverpool on Matchday 14 the 11th out of 13 Champions League games in which the Georgian has either scored, provided an assist or won a penalty this season. Over the last five Champions League matchdays, the Paris Saint-Germain midfielder has 53 points at an average of 10.6 per game, and with the French club at home in the first leg and Kvaratskhelia owned by 25% of Fantasy managers, the 25-year-old should be a popular captain.
Harry Kane (€10.9m) vs Paris Saint-Germain (A)
Equally viable for the captaincy is the ever-reliable Kane, whose 12 goals in this season's Champions League campaign are more than any player still involved. Seven of those have come in his last five European appearances, while his club tally in all competitions for 2025/26 is 51 goals in 43 games. At 45% ownership, the England international is the most popular forward ahead of Matchday 15; Kane has found the net in 12 of Bayern's last 13 games in all competitions, 17 goals in all.
Other options: Ousmane Dembélé (€9.6m), Désiré Doué (€8.1m), Michael Olise (€8.3m)
WEDNESDAY 29 APRIL
Julián Alvarez (€9.4m) vs Arsenal (H)
Should a captaincy change on Wednesday be required, turning to a player who has produced double-figure returns in three of his last four European appearances could be the way to go. Instrumental in helping Atlético de Madrid reach the semi-finals, Alvarez is enjoying his most prolific Champions League season having struck nine times for the Spanish side, while he also has four assists and three Player of the Match awards. The Argentinian, who was recently on target in the Copa del Rey final, scored in the 2022/23 Champions League semi-finals for Manchester City.
Gabriel (€5.8m) vs Atlético de Madrid (A)
Arsenal's joint-leading Fantasy point scorer this season despite missing three fixtures, Gabriel looks to be one of his team's most reliable captaincy options. The Gunners, the only unbeaten side remaining in this season's Champions League, have kept three consecutive clean sheets, Gabriel scoring and providing an assist in a 4-0 win over Atleti on Matchday 3 of the league phase. More recently, the centre-back has gained eight points from ball recoveries in Arsenal's four knockout stage matches this season.
Other options: Antoine Griezmann (€8.6m), Marcos Llorente (€6.9m), Gabriel Martinelli (€7.6m)
