Liverpool end season with Champions League goals record

Liverpool could not win the European Cup for a sixth time, but set a daunting mark by scoring their 47th goal in the 2017/18 competition.

Liverpool broke the all-time record for goals in a single UEFA Champions League season in their semi-final against Roma, and extended their extraordinary total to 47 with Sadio Mané's finish in the final in Kyiv.

Jürgen Klopp's side ran out 3-1 losers in the final, with star forward Mohamed Salah taken off with a shoulder injury in the first half, but Mané's goal gave them hope after Karim Benzema's finish had put Real Madrid ahead. Club-mates Mané, Salah and Roberto Firmino all ended the season with ten UEFA Champions League goals, Senegalese international Mané following Egyptian Salah in becoming the second African player to reach double figures in a single UEFA Champions League season.
