COVID-19 guidance for your EURO 2020 match

We hope you're excited for your matchday at Football Arena Munich but remember this won't be your usual stadium visit and we want to make sure it’s a safe and comfortable experience for all.

⚠️ To enter the stadium, all ticket holders aged six and older must present a digital negative COVID-19 test result or a COVID-19 wristband (for fans who have been vaccinated or have recovered from COVID-19). See below for more info.

Requirements for stadium entry at Football Arena Munich

🎟️ Mobile match ticket and FFP2 face mask

Before you head to the stadium, make sure you have your match ticket and your face mask. It needs to be an FFP2 mask. Other types of masks, e.g. surgical masks, masks made out of fabric or scarves, will not be accepted.

(Check out our Matchday checklist for more tips on what to pack)

⚠️ COVID-19 test, proof of vaccination or proof of previous infection

To enter Football Arena Munich, all ticket holders aged six and up must:

Either provide a digital negative COVID-19 test result (rapid antigen or PCR) taken in Germany within 24 hours before kick-off. The test result MUST be uploaded to one of two apps.
Or present a COVID-19 wristband, which can be picked up at the stadium for ticket holders who have recovered from COVID-19 or been fully vaccinated.

The procedure for all options is described in detail below:

Option 1️⃣: Negative COVID-19 test result

1A: For German speakers
  • Download either the luca app (Download for Android / iOS) or the Corona-Warn-App (Download for Android / iOS) on your mobile phone.
  • Book a test at any test centre in Germany that cooperates with either app:

📱 luca app: You can book your appointment directly in the app by tapping on the calendar icon or here.

📱 Corona-Warn-App: You can find cooperating test centres across Germany at www.test-buchen.de, or use one of our partner test centres in Munich.

  • Book a test for your match. The test must be taken within 24 hours before kick-off. Self-tests or tests taken more than 24 hours before kick-off will not be accepted.
  • After receiving your negative test result, upload it to the luca app or Corona-Warn-App.
  • Get to the stadium within your dedicated entry time slot (see below for more info) and have your luca app or Corona-Warn-App ready.
  • It's recommended that you have your test validated before arriving at the stadium entrance. Simply show your test result to one of our friendly volunteers at the entrance to the esplanade. You can't miss them - look out for the "test validation" signs. This will help speed things up at the stadium entrance and avoid queues.

🚨 IMPORTANT:

  • If you go to any other test centre than the ones suggested above, please make sure that the test centre will provide a test result that can be uploaded to the luca app or the Corona-Warn-App.
  • Please ensure that your test result is personalised. The name and surname of the ticket holder must be displayed on the test result.
  • PDFs or printed documents will not be accepted at the stadium entrance.
  • If you attend multiple matches, each test must be scheduled separately.
  • You can find more detailed descriptions on how to use the apps here (Corona-Warn-App) and here (luca app).
1B: For non-German speakers
  • Download the luca app (Download for Android / iOS) to your mobile phone.
  • Book a test at any test centre in Germany that cooperates with the luca app. You can find cooperating test centres here or directly in the luca app by tapping on the calendar icon.
  • Book a test for your match. The test must be taken within 24 hours before kick-off. Self-tests or tests taken more than 24 hours before kick-off will not be accepted.
  • After receiving your negative test result, upload it to the luca app.
  • Get to the stadium within your dedicated entry time slot (see below for more info) and have your luca app ready.

  • Please make sure that your test result is personalised. The name and surname of the ticket holder must be displayed on the test result.
  • PDFs or printed documents will not be accepted at the stadium entrance.
  • If you attend multiple matches, each test must be scheduled separately.
  • You can find more detailed descriptions on how to use the luca app here.

Let me give you a top tip:

Look out for our friendly volunteers with the "test validation" signs as you approach the entrance of the esplanade. They will validate your COVID-19 test result for you before you head to the entrance, so don't be surprised if they pop up to say hello. This will help avoid queues at the entrance, so make sure to get your validation beforehand.

Option 2️⃣: Wristband for fully vaccinated spectators
  • Your vaccination is only considered valid if you have received your second dose (if your vaccine is a two-dose vaccine).
  • A minimum of 14 days must have passed since your final dose.
  • Only COVID-19 vaccines recognised by the Paul Ehrlich Institute are accepted.
  • Your vaccination certificate must be in German or English language.

If your vaccination documents are not compliant with these guidelines, you need to take a test as described in option 1️⃣ instead!

How to collect your wristband for option 2️⃣

Keep in mind that the wristband is tamper-proof and can’t be removed. If you attempt to do so it will no longer be valid for stadium entry.

  • Book an appointment at the collection point at the stadium.
  • Timeslots for collection are available on the day before the match (16:00 – 20:00) and on matchday (4 hours before kick-off until 30 minutes after kick-off).
  • We recommend you collect your wristband the day before your match to avoid the last-minute rush on matchdays. Please respect your time slot.
  • Don’t forget to bring your certificate and ID (passport or ID card).
  • At the collection point, the wristband will be put around your arm
  • On matchday, simply show your wristband to the staff at the stadium entrance.
Option 3️⃣: Wristband for recovered spectators

You will be considered as fully recovered:

Option 3A:
If you were infected with COVID-19 less than six months and more than 28 days ago. The infection must have been detected by a positive PCR test in English or German, which you need to present at the collection point.

Or

Option 3B:
If you were infected with COVID-19 more than six months ago (positive PCR test must be presented in English or German) and you can provide proof that you have received one dose of a COVID-19 vaccine. Your vaccination certificate needs to be in German or English, and the vaccine needs to be recognised by the Paul Ehrlich Institute.

  • Only COVID-19 vaccines recognised by the Paul Ehrlich Institute are accepted.
  • Your vaccination certificate must be in German or English language.

If your vaccination documents are not compliant with these guidelines, you need to take a test as described in option 1 instead!

How to collect your wristband for option 3️⃣

Keep in mind that the wristband is tamper-proof and can’t be removed. If you attempt to do so it will no longer be valid for stadium entry.

  • Book an appointment at the collection point at the stadium.
  • Timeslots for collection are available on the day before the match (16:00 – 20:00) and on matchday (4 hours before kick-off until 30 minutes after kick-off).
  • We recommend you collect your wristband the day before your match to avoid the last-minute rush on matchdays. Please respect your time slot.
  • Make sure you bring the following documents when collecting your wristband:

➡️ Valid ID (passport or ID card)
➡️ Your positive COVID-19 PCR test to prove your previous infection
➡️ If applicable (option 3B): vaccination certificate as described above

  • At the collection point, the wristband will be put around your arm
  • On matchday, simply show your wristband to the staff at the stadium entrance.
Option 4️⃣: EU - Digital COVID Certificate or German digital vaccination certificate (Digitaler Impfnachweis/CovPass)
  • If you have a valid digital COVID certificate or digital vaccination certificate (CovPass), you don’t need to book a slot to collect a wristband in advance. In this case, simply show your digital certificate to one of our “test validation” volunteers by the entrance to the stadium Esplanade when making your way to the stadium.
  • Make sure to double check that your certificate is valid and meets the requirements outlined in the three different categories as individually explained above (tested/vaccinated/recovered).

Let me give you a top tip:

Option 1️⃣ (getting tested within 24 hours before kick-off) is the easiest and quickest. You can always choose to enter with a negative test result, even if you have been vaccinated. Keep in mind that if you’re recovering from COVID-19 you may test positive.

What we're doing to keep you safe

UEFA via Getty Images

Our main priority is to deliver a safe UEFA EURO 2020 for everyone, which is why we’re working with the local governments and health authorities to ensure our measures adhere to the public health guidance of the host country.

➡️ More about health and safety measures
  • A diligent cleaning regime will be reinforced. Highly frequented touchpoints such as door handles, handrails or counters will be disinfected regularly throughout the matchday. The entire stadium is cleaned on a regular basis before, during and after your visit.
  • Over 800 hand sanitiser units across the stadium will make it easy for everyone to follow recommended hygiene practices.
  • Cashless transactions - all venues will accept card payments, many via contactless payment, to further reduce shared contact.
  • We’re implementing queuing management and systems in front of lifts, concessions and other facilities. Clear floor markings help with direction and movement.
  • Education of staff - our VW Mobility Makers and everyone else working at the venue will have received extensive training to ensure we can deliver a safe and comfortable event according to best practice and government guidelines. This also includes providing all workforce with the necessary protective equipment such as FFP-2 face masks and gloves as required.
  • All mitigation measures will be promoted heavily throughout the stadium so that everyone is aware of the rules.

Let me give you a top tip

If you’re unsure about something, our UEFA EURO 2020 volunteers, the Volkswagen Mobility Makers, are there to help. They will have info points across the city of Munich and at Football Arena Munich.

FAQs

⚠️ COVID-19 test questions

What if I forgot to book my COVID-19 rapid test?

Please make sure to book your test in advance, as the capacities of the test centres might be limited on short notice. Tests at regular test centres are free of charge. Just make sure that the test result can be uploaded to the luca app or the Corona-Warn-App.

Do children also need to get tested?

Yes, children aged six and over will need either a negative test result or a wristband to enter the stadium.

What if my child does not have a mobile phone or if I do not have one?

You can visit the wristband collection point at the stadium or speak to one of our friendly volunteers. In this case you need to present a valid document according to the standards outlined in the sections above (testing procedure/procedure for vaccinated/recovered) in printed form or as PDF.

Note that this procedure will likely lead to waiting times at the stadium, so we don't recommend this option.

Remember you can only upload one test result to the Corona-Warn-App or luca app, meaning you can’t check in multiple people with one mobile phone at the entrance.

What documents do I need to take with me when taking my COVID-19 test?
  • Use the email with the appointment confirmation to identify yourself at the test centre.
  • Bring your valid ID.
  • Don't forget your FFP2 face mask.
  • Please note that the test is only scheduled for you. Each ticket holder needs to have a separate test appointment. Please remember to bring the appointment confirmation and proof of identity for each visitor, regardless of age.
What if my COVID-19 test comes back positive?

If your test comes back positive, contact your local health authorities and isolate yourself immediately. They will help you and provide information on the measures that will need to be taken. Please, for your own safety and the safety of others, under no circumstances approach the stadium after a positive COVID-19 test.

Do I need to upload the result, or can I simply show the e-mail confirmation on my phone when entering the stadium?

You will need to upload the test result to either the Corona-Warn-App or the luca app. E-mail confirmations or PDF documents will not be sufficient at the stadium.

Do I need Wi-fi or mobile data on my phone to show the test result at the stadium?

Your test result can only be uploaded to the Corona-Warn-App or luca app when you’re online. Once uploaded, you can access it anytime even when you’re offline.

Is the wristband waterproof?

Yes – it’s completely waterproof.

🧳 General / travel-related questions

What do I need to consider if I travel from abroad to attend a EURO 2020 match?

If you’re travelling from abroad, remember you will have to comply with the border entry restrictions and requirements enforced in Germany at the time. This includes quarantine and proof that you have tested negative for a COVID-19 infection.

Please also be aware that travel from certain countries may be restricted.

Rules that are in place now may change closer to the tournament.

We encourage you to take those restrictions and requirements into consideration when deciding whether to return your tickets or keep them.

Check out our "Travel and transport" page for more information, or visit the website of the Federal Foreign Office directly.

Where can I learn about the health situation in the host city?

Here are some useful links:

How many fans will be allowed inside the stadium?

This will differ across the 11 UEFA EURO 2020 venues, based on the local health regulations. According to current planning, Football Arena Munich aims to host around 14,500 spectators per match, corresponding to 20% of the stadium capacity.

🎟️ Tickets

I have a question about my EURO 2020 match ticket.

For any questions about your match ticket, please visit the Ticket FAQs.

🏟️ Stadium questions

When do I have to wear a face mask? What qualifies as a face mask?

Wearing a face mask is always mandatory onsite. The mask must cover your mouth and nose. You will only be allowed inside the stadium when wearing an FFP2 mask. You can safely take if off to eat or drink. We recommend you bring additional masks just in case.

Can I be exempt from wearing a mask?

Unfortunately, there are no exceptions from the mask policy. Wearing an FFP2 maks is mandatory at all times, as required by the local authorities.

Are there any changes to the entry and exit procedure? How much time is it going to take?

Dedicated entry time slots will be in place that indicate the time you should arrive at your entrance for a stress-free arrival. Be sure to check which entry time slot you've been assigned so you can plan your journey to the stadium accordingly. This means you may need to travel to the stadium earlier than you're used to.

Can I bring my own hand sanitiser?

There will be plenty of hand sanitiser units throughout the stadium, but you can bring your own if it’s more comfortable for you. Note that the bottle shouldn’t be larger than 50ml.

How will you be enforcing the health and hygiene measures? What happens if I don’t follow them?

Staff onsite will remind you and guide you through the measures in place.

Any infringement of Code of Conduct may result in denial of access to the stadium, removal from the Stadium and/or further legal action, at the discretion of UEFA.

If you suspect that someone is not respecting the Spectators Code of Conduct, and you believe you are at risk, please inform a steward, volunteer, or another member of staff.

Are you implementing contract tracing and if yes, how?

Yes. The personalised tickets in combination with the automatic contact tracing implemented in the Corona-Warn-App covers the contact tracing process for EURO 2020 at Football Arena Munich.
