Besiktas JK have signed Federico Giunti from Brescia Calcio. The Italian midfield player came close to signing for the Turkish club last summer, but the deal collapsed after Giunti failed to agree personal terms.
Limited chances
Giunti had not appeared at all for Brescia this season, and his chances of first-term football were further limited by the recent return of Josep Guardiola to the Rigamonti Stadium from AS Roma.
Coaching target
Giunti, who has also had spells with AC Parma and AC Milan, was a specific target for Besiktas’s Romanian coach Mircea Lucescu, who previously coached Brescia and Internazionale FC.
League leaders
Besiktas currently lead the Turkish Super League, two points ahead of local rivals Galatasaray SK.
