The Austrian trainer has signed a new two-year deal with the German club to end speculation about his future. Jara, whose original contract was due to expire next summer, led Hamburg to fourth place in the Bundesliga last season.
'Long-term aims'
The 52-year-old said: "HSV are one of Europe's big clubs. I am proud to be coach here and of what we have achieved. I look forward to being able to continue my work on a long-term basis."

Hamburg sporting director Dietmar Beiersdorfer called the club's decision "a step in the right direction". He continued: "I am happy that the partnership with Kurt Jara, which has become even stronger in the past few months, will go on. Jara has developed the team and we want that work to go on."
