Hamburger SV defender Milan Fukal faces another eight weeks on the sidelines with a knee injury.
The Czech international, who has been out of action since undergoing ankle surgery in the summer, has suffered a setback in his fight for fitness. The 28-year-old was just getting ready to rejoin the first-team squad when he complained of pain in his knee.
Tests revealed that Fukal, who moved to Hamburg from AC Sparta Praha in 2000, had damaged cartilage in his knee and would require another operation. He will need at least eight weeks to recover from the surgery and is unlikely to be available for selection until the new year.
