Former Moldova coach Alexandr Matiura has taken charge of FC Nistru Otaci, who finished as runners-up in the Moldovan league last season under Alexandr Spiridon.
Vast experience
Matiura, one of Moldova's finest players and coaches, returns to the club after a two-year absence. He scored 43 times in 310 Soviet league appearances for Nistru in the 1970s and 1980s and also has extensive coaching experience at both club and international level.
UEFA Cup campaign
The 50-year-old has started preparations for the new season, which will include a UEFA Cup campaign for Nistru. He has said that goalkeeper Sergei Dinov will be the only player to leave the club in mid-season when his contract expires.
