Schällibaum parts with Servette

European defeat
The Swiss club have lost four of their first five league matches, scoring just three times while conceding 14. Servette, who had three points deducted before a ball was kicked this season as punishment for financial difficulties, have only managed one positive result, a 2-2 draw against Grasshopper-Club last month. They also went down 3-1 to Hungarian side Újpesti TE last week in the first leg of their UEFA Cup second qualifying round tie, although they have the return to come at home on 26 August.

Rueda out
Schällibaum is the second Swiss coaching casualty of the 2004/05 campaign after Martin Rueda was fired by FC Aarau last week. Servette have turned to Adrian Ursea to lead the team on a temporary basis until a new coach is found, but he faces a difficult prospect to get the best out of a squad featuring 20 new players including the likes of Christian Karembeu and Viorel Moldovan.

One-year contract
Former Switzerland Under-21 trainer Schällibaum took charge of Servette back in May 2003. The 42-year-old moved to the Geneva-based side from BSC Young Boys where he had been for four seasons.
