FK Partizan captain Saša Ilic has extended his contract contract with the club until July 2008.
The Serbo-Montenegrin international midfield player has been at the Belgrade club since making his professional debut in 1997. There had been some doubt surrounding his future at the club after a loan spell last season at RC Celta de Vigo.
'Team of the future'
But the 27-year-old returned to Partizan in the close season and has now signed a three-year extension to his deal, which was originally due to run out next summer. With the club attempting to form a more stable squad, Ilic has been earmarked as being at the core of the "team for the future," according to the club officials.
Ilic, has scored 85 goals in 184 games over nine seasons for Partizan and although not at the top of his game, Vladimir Vermezovic's side are currently top of the First Federal League and have one foot in the group stage of the UEFA Cup after beating FC Dinamo Bucuresti 3-1.
