Panionios NFC have announced Georgios Vazakas as the successor to head coach Karol Pecze, who was sacked on Friday following the team's narrow defeat at the hands of Newcastle United FC in UEFA Cup Group D.

Opening win
The former PAS Giannina and Posidon Neon Poron coach, 44, watched his new charges defeat Ionikos FC 1-0 on Sunday. Vazakas will hope to continue in that fashion in the UEFA Cup, with Sporting Clube de Portugal up next on 4 November.
