Win gives Gross confidence

Group A: FC Basel 1893 coach Christian Gross said his side would head into the last 32 in good heart.

We were able to give it our best shot again after a difficult year so the supporters can really be proud of this team. When we couldn't break the deadlock early, we didn't get nervous and stuck to our game plan. I told the players what the score was in Edinburgh at half-time and after our goal we didn't take too many risks. We were in a very difficult group and can be confident going in to the next round. Basel coach Christian Gross

Obviously the teams went into the match with different attitudes, as we were already qualified. The pitch was very difficult to play on and it wasn't a good match but I think that both teams can be happy with the result. In truth, we had our next league game on our minds. Feyenoord coach Ruud Gullit

We are very disappointed - we were desperate to win although ultimately it didn't mean anything because of the predictable result from Switzerland. Feyenoord had every right to play whatever side they wanted in Basel, but it was the result both sides wanted. Ferencváros showed their experience and we have to learn to show some experience ourselves and the only way you get that is by playing in Europe every year. Now we have to settle down and concentrate on our domestic form because we want to have more big European nights like this. The crowd were great, it was a top atmosphere and I am disappointed for them more than anyone else. Good luck to the three sides who have qualified. Hearts manager John Robertson

I was very disappointed in Hearts. I thought they would have played with three players up front. They were the team that needed to win, but they didn't seem to want to play an attacking game. Ferencváros coach Csaba László
