Article body
Tuesday surgery
The 28-year-old left-back, who has appeared in five UEFA Champions League games and eleven Alpha Ethniki matches this season, will undergo surgery on Tuesday in a bid to cure the problem to his right knee. Venetidis missed two and a half months of the 2003/04 campaign because of an injury to his left knee.
Absence felt
The operation sidelines Venetidis for Olympiacos's UEFA Cup Round of 32 tie against French side FC Sochaux-Montbéliard, as well as Greece's FIFA World Cup qualifiers against Denmark, Georgia and Albania. The defender, who has 41 caps, has been a regular in Otto Rehhagel's squad.
