Poškus sale aids Krylya Sovetov

Robertas Poškus has left FC Krylya Sovetov Samara to become FC Zenit St. Petersburg's first summer signing.

Necessary sale
While the 26-year-old swaps eighth-placed Krylya Sovetov for a Zenit side lying fourth in the Russian Premier-Liga, the transfer fee involved will bring much-needed funds into the Samara club. Krylya Sovetov still owed FC Rostov for the 2004 signing of South Africa defender Matthew Booth, and Poškus's sale will enable them to pay their remaining debt to Rostov and so avoid the threat of a six-point deduction.

Three seasons
Poškus, who started out with FK Atlantas and subsequently played for FK Žalgiris Vilnius, Widzew Lódz and KSP Polonia Warszawa, scored 24 goals in 80 games for Krylya Sovetov during a three-season spell. He has also registered five goals in 26 international appearances.
