The arena is preparing to host another UEFA Cup showpiece, following the 1977/78 final.

The PSV Stadion, home to 2005 Eredivisie champions PSV Eindhoven, will host the 2006 UEFA Cup final. The arena is located in the centre of the Dutch city and has a capacity of over 35,000. The venue will be renamed as the PSV Stadium for the final.

PSV success
The arena has never before hosted a major one-off club final but did stage the second leg of the 1978 UEFA Cup final when PSV defeated SC Bastia 3-0 to claim the trophy. Two other Dutch cities, Amsterdam and Rotterdam, have hosted 12 European club finals between them.
