The 27-year-old joined Sporting from Moreirense FC earlier this summer but has been judged surplus to requirements for the coming campaign by the Lisbon side's coach, José Peseiro.
Familiar ground
Manoel now returns to Guimarães, his first club in Portugal where he landed from Vitória EC in 2000/01. He subsequently spent two seasons apiece with Gil Vicente FC and Moreirense – where last term he scored five goals in 29 SuperLiga games – before the move to Sporting.
