Rangers capture Bardsley on loan

Phil Bardsley has joined Manchester United FC team-mate Lee Martin at Rangers FC after signing for Paul Le Guen's team for the remainder of the year.

Rangers FC have signed Manchester United FC right-back Phil Bardsley on loan until the end of the year.

Defensive connection
The 21-year-old joins Old Trafford team-mate Lee Martin in Glasgow, having impressed Rangers manager Paul Le Guen while deputising for Gary Neville last season against SL Benfica in the UEFA Champions League. "I went to Old Trafford when Manchester United played Benfica. Phil was in the team and he played very well," said the former Olympique Lyonnais coach. "[Sir] Alex Ferguson has already been helpful in letting us have Lee Martin and I am thankful we have Phil as well. I am sure he will be a good addition to our squad."
