Tottenham Hotspur FC winger Aaron Lennon will be out of action for six weeks as he requires surgery to repair a cartilage tear in his right knee.

England absence
The English international will have the operation this weekend and during his recovery will miss the UEFA EURO 2008™ qualifiers against F.Y.R. Macedonia and Croatia. Tottenham manager Martin Jol had hoped to play Lennon in Thursday's UEFA Cup first-round first leg at SK Slavia Praha but the 19-year-old failed a fitness test. Jol said: "After training he said he couldn't do everything he wanted, so we thought it best that he had the operation. He will be out for five or six weeks." Spurs brought a 1-0 lead back from the Czech Republic ahead of the return match on 28 September.
