Shakhtar agree Pyatov deal

Ukrainian international goalkeeper Andriy Pyatov has agreed a five-year contract to join FC Shakhtar Donetsk from FC Vorskla Poltava in a €1m deal.

Loaned back
The 22-year-old, a member of the Ukraine team who were runners-up in last summer's UEFA European Under-21 Championship and capped once at senior level, will spend the second half of the Premier League season on loan at Vorskla before switching to his new employers on 30 June 2007. Title-holders Shakhtar had to beat off competition from several clubs in both his homeland and Russia to get Pyatov's signature. An unused squad player at the 2006 FIFA World Cup, the keeper has played 28 top-flight games for Vorskla following his debut in 2005 and has been ever-present this term.

Metalurh transfer
On a busy day, Shakhtar have also acquired the services of Oleksiy Polyanskiy, recruiting the midfielder in a €400,000 transfer from local rivals FC Metalurh Donetsk. The 20-year-old, an U21 international with 34 matches under his belt with Metalurh, has accepted a five-year contract from the champions.
