Corradi clash
Ooijer's father-in-law, former Dutch international Willy van de Kerkhof, told TV-channel Sport 1 that Ooijer will have surgery after breaking his fibula and tearing ankle ligaments when City striker Bernardo Corradi fell on him. "I spoke with André on the phone and he was very down although this injury will not mean the end of his career," said Van de Kerkhof. "His knee is not really damaged like we feared."
European blow
The 32-year-old, who was a regular for the Netherlands at the FIFA World Cup in Germany, joined Blackburn on a two-year deal last July for an undisclosed fee after ten years at PSV Eindhoven. The injury will come as a blow to his side's hopes progressing in the UEFA Cup. Mark Hughes's men meet Bayer 04 Leverkusen in the Round of 32 first leg in Germany on 14 February.
