Hard work still to come for Ziganda

Coach José Angel Ziganda was delighted with CA Osasuna's first-leg victory against Sevilla FC yet he recognised that the tie is a long way from being over.

CA Osasuna coach José Angel Ziganda was delighted with his side's performance as a Roberto Soldado header earned a 1-0 victory against holders Sevilla FC in the UEFA Cup semi-final first leg, although he recognised an equivalent effort in next week's return is required if the team from Pamplona are to reach the final in Glasgow on 16 May. Visiting coach Juande Ramos, meanwhile, accepted his charges had been second best on the night but remains optimistic they can turn it round on home soil.

José Angel Ziganda, Osasuna coach
We played very well tonight, it's not normal for one team to take control against Sevilla as we did. The score is good but if we want to get to the final, we have to play in Seville like we did tonight. The second leg will be very difficult but if we score once, they have to score three. Our fans were perfect for us and we created chances for the second goal but couldn't take them. Sevilla are a very strong team with a lot of spirit who, with the help of their supporters, will obviously give everything to try and beat us. Tonight, at least, we did very well defensively to deny them the opportunity.

Juande Ramos, Sevilla coach
We started well and controlled the early stages but within a few minutes they were doing the same. Osasuna played a good match tonight, they were very strong and won all the second-phase balls. Our attacking play was not good enough, we didn't have a lot of chances and couldn't convert those we did create. They were very compact throughout the game and won all the loose balls. We hope to win the second leg, but we have to play better to get to the final in Glasgow. In Europe, a 1-0 defeat in the away match is very bad.
