UEFA Cup contenders Odense BK have brought forward David Nielsen back to Denmark from IK Start after signing Norwegian marksman Bengt Sæternes earlier this month.

Former club
The 30-year-old Nielsen played for OB between 1993 and 1995 and has agreed a three-year contract with his former club. "We have been missing a player with David Nielsen's aggressive qualities in the box, so I am really happy that we have got his signature," said OB coach Lars Olsen. Sporting director Kim Brink added: "We have got ourselves a solid box player and a striker who knows where the goal is - and a player whom we know very well already."

Homesick striker
Start sporting director Svein Mathisen knew that the player was no longer happy in Norway, saying: "We knew that David wanted to go home to Denmark and to his family and we realised that he was not going to feel happy at Start any longer." Nielsen's other former clubs include Lyngby FC, FC København, Aalborg BK and FC Midtjylland in Denmark as well as SC Fortuna Düsseldorf in Germany and Ebglish sides Grimsby Town FC, Wimbledon FC and Norwich City FC.
