Experienced goalkeeper Javier López Vallejo has joined UEFA Cup entrants Real Zaragoza on a free transfer after terminating his contract with Villarreal CF.

Experienced goalkeeper Javier López Vallejo has joined UEFA Cup entrants Real Zaragoza on a free transfer after terminating his contract with Villarreal CF yesterday.

Two-year contract
López Vallejo, 31, has agreed a two-year deal after ending a seven-season spell with Villarreal, though he spent 2006/07 on loan at RC Recreativo de Huelva having not been a regular at El Madrigal for a number of campaigns. The former CA Osasuna goalkeeper, who won the 1991 UEFA European Under-16 Championship with Spain, will begin this season’s UEFA Cup with his new team in the first round.
