Charisteas, who famously scored the only goal in the final of UEFA EURO 2004™ against Portugal, moved to Feyenoord last summer after a three-year spell with AFC Ajax and scored nine goals in 28 Eredivisie matches in his solitary season with the Rotterdam club. The 27-year-old, who has 16 goals in 59 international appearances, is no stranger to German football having enjoyed a successful spell at Werder Bremen between 2002 and 2005, scoring 18 goals in 66 league matches for the Bundesliga outfit. His new side Nürnberg qualified for the first round of the UEFA Cup with victory in the German Cup final in May.
