Shirokov heads to to St Petersburg

Free agent
Shirokov moves as a free agent and has signed a four-year contract at the Petrovsky Stadium. The 26-year-old, a product of the PFC CSKA Moskva football academy, played for FC Torpedo-ZIL Moskva, amateur side FC Istra, third division FC Vidnoye, FC Rubin Kazan and FC Saturn Moskovskaya Oblast before joining Khimki, scoring seven times in 27 league games. Shirokov has been called up to the Russian national squad several times but has yet to make his debut. Zenit continue their UEFA Cup group stage campaign on Thursday at home against 1. FC Nürnberg, having picked up four points from their opening two games in Group A.
