Diamond completes Dons deal

Aberdeen FC have been boosted ahead of next month's tie against FC Bayern München with the news that defender Zander Diamond has signed a three-and-a-half year contract.

Aberdeen FC have received a boost ahead of next month's UEFA Cup Round of 32 tie against FC Bayern München with defender Zander Diamond signing a three-and-a-half year contract.

Offer accepted
The 22-year-old centre-back had appeared poised to leave Aberdeen after rejecting the club's initial offer but the former Scottish Under-21 international has now agreed improved terms to stay at Pittodrie, to the delight of manager Jimmy Calderwood. "Zander's arguably been our best player this season and has the qualities to go on and take the captaincy at the club," said Calderwood. Earlier this week, Aberdeen accepted a €232,000 bid from English second-division side Plymouth Argyle FC for right-back Michael Hart, while midfielders Chris Clark and Barry Nicholson have also refused new deals and seem likely to move on at the season's end.
