UEFA Cup hopefuls Bayer 04 Leverkusen have extended forward Stefan Kiessling's contract by two years, keeping him at the Bundesliga club until the summer of 2012.

'Going places'
The 24-year-old's existing deal was due to expire in 2010 but he has opted to prolong his stay in Leverkusen early after enjoying a fruitful season so far with 12 goals in the league and UEFA Cup. "My family and I really feel settled at Leverkusen. The team and the club are going places and in one or two years we want to be able to compete for the German title," he said. Kiessling who arrived from 1. FC Nürnberg in 2006 and has made 21 Bundesliga appearances this campaign, will be hoping to continue his good form when Leverkusen meet fellow German side Hamburger SV in the UEFA Cup Round of 16 on Thursday.
