Two-year deal
Gentner, who turns 23 on Thursday, came to Wolfsburg last summer on a two-year loan but has now moved for an undisclosed free and signed a contract until summer 2010. In 2007/08 he made 31 Bundesliga appearances, scoring three goals, as Wolfsburg finished fifth to earn a UEFA Cup first-round berth. Stuttgart sporting manager Jochen Schneider said: "It was the wish of Christian Gentner to join VfL Wolfsburg as he developed so well there last season and sees himself as having real prospects in Felix Magath's side. After weighing up the pros and cons, we decided that we didn't want to stand in the way of his permanent move to Wolfsburg. We wish Christian all the best for the future."
