Successful operation
The 30-year-old dislocated his left wrist and fractured his hand in the incident, and has already undergone surgery in Gorizia. "Gattuso is fine right now and if we are lucky he will be back in action in about one month," said professor Enrico Castellacci, who carried out the operation. That means Gattuso is ruled out of Italy's FIFA World Cup qualifier against Georgia and leaves him a major doubt for the UEFA Cup first round tie with FC Zürich. He is certainly out of the first leg on 18 September, and faces a race against time to line up in the return on 2 October.
