Feyenoord out to make amends

Feyenoord are exceptionally keen to put memories of their last visit to AS Nancy-Lorraine behind them as the two teams meet for a second time in the UEFA Cup group stage in their opening Group H fixture.

• Feyenoord were excluded from the 2006/07 UEFA Cup after crowd trouble forced their game at Nancy to be suspended for ten minutes. The Dutch side were 3-0 down at the Marcel Picot Stadium when the problems began.

• Pablo Correa's side took the lead through Sébastian Puygrenier after 22 minutes with Kim scoring the second with a little help from Feyenoord defender André Bahia before half-time. Monsef Zerka completed the win from the penalty spot.

• That game remains Nancy's only match against Dutch opposition.

• The teams for that game on 30 November 2006 were:
Nancy: Olivier Sorin, Pape Diakhate, Pascal Berenguer, Emmanuel Duchemin, Kim (Jonathan Brison), Issiar Dia (Benjamin Gavanon), Monsef Zerka, Gaston Curbelo (Andre Luiz), Michaël Chrétien, David Sauget, Sébastian Puygrenier.
Feyenoord: Henk Timmer, Karim Saidi, Timothy Derijck, André Bahia, Danny Buijs, Pierre van Hooijdonk, Stein Huysegems, Angelos Charisteas (Ali Boussaboun), Serginho Greene, Royston Drenthe, Jonathan de Guzman.

• Feyenoord were coached by Erwin Koeman, who left the club in May 2007. He is now coach of Hungary.

• Feyenoord are now coached by Gertjan Verbeek, who took over this summer after Bert van Marwijk replaced Marco van Basten as Netherlands coach.

• Defeat at Nancy ended Feyenoord's run of six unbeaten games against French opposition. They have now played seven games against sides from France in UEFA club competition, winning two, drawing four and losing one.

• Nancy finished fourth in Ligue 1 last season to qualify for the first round of the UEFA Cup. They then beat Motherwell FC 3-0 on aggregate to seal their return to the group stage.

• Feyenoord finished sixth in the Eredivisie but qualified for the UEFA Cup first round as winners of the Dutch Cup, beating Roda JC 2-0 in the final. They then lost 1-0 at home to Kalmar FF but progressed on away goals after a 2-1 win in the return leg in Sweden.

• Nancy forward Marc-Antoine Fortune knows a bit about Dutch football having played for FC Utrecht for 18 months prior to joining Nancy in January 2007. At that club, he played alongside Feyenoord defender Dwight Tiendalli.

• PFC CSKA Moskva take on RC Deportivo La Coruña in Matchday 1's other Group H game. KKS Lech Poznań are the side in the section not in action on 23 October.
