Cesar Santin said modestly that he was "lucky to be standing in the right place" as his goal in Bruges saw FC København join Aalborg BK in the UEFA Cup Round of 32 to complete a superb autumn for Superliga clubs.

Two sides
Danish fans are not accustomed to having much to cheer about in UEFA club competitions come the spring, but can now follow the fortunes of two local sides in the UEFA Cup Round of 32, with AaB set to join København in Friday's draw after finishing third in their UEFA Champions League group.

'So happy'
København owe their progress to Cesar Santin's 58th-minute goal at Club Brugge KV, but the Brazilian was happy to share the credit with his team-mates. "I am in the team to score goals, and today I was lucky to be standing in the right place," he said. "We managed to achieve everything we planned. I am just so happy for everybody."

'Something to prove'
Goalkeeper Jesper Christiansen added: "We were put under enormous pressure, from the crowd too, but we managed to stay calm until the end. We felt we had something to prove from last year [when København missed out on a last 32 place with a 4-0 last-night loss at Aberdeen FC]. This time we were better prepared physically, and we also have a larger squad now."

Great campaign
With his side now heading into their winter break, København's Norwegian coach Ståle Solbakken said: "I was particularly pleased with the central defenders, Mikael Antonsson and Ulrik Laursen. This was a worthy end to a fine autumn. Even though we were the better team and created the better chances, they might have equalised towards the end, where we had luck on our side, but we deserved to win."
