Hamburger SV have moved to fill the void created by the departure of Dutch midfielder Nigel de Jong by signing the Venezuelan international Tomás Rincón from Deportivo Táchira.
No hesitation
The 21-year-old has signed an initial contract until 31 December 2009, with Hamburg having the option to extend the former Zamora FC player's stay until 30 June 2013 should he impress with the UEFA Cup contenders. "When I heard of the interest from such a big club like HSV, I didn't have to think for too long," said Rincón, who made 17 appearances in the first half of the Venezuelan season. Rincón replaces De Jong, who moved to Manchester City FC for a reported fee of €19.5m last week, and becomes the club's second arrival of the January transfer window following the loan signing of Marcel Ndjeng from VfL Borussia Mönchengladbach. Hamburg play NEC Nijmegen in the UEFA Cup Round of 32 next month.
