Unstoppable Love has Klinsmann's number

PFC CSKA Moskva's Vágner Love has set a fearsome pace in this season's UEFA Cup and with eleven strikes in nine games, the Brazilian is eyeing up Jürgen Klinsmann's record haul of 15 goals for a UEFA Cup campaign.

When PFC CSKA Moskva's Vágner Love scored in his fourth successive UEFA Cup game, against FC Shakhtar Donetsk last Thursday, he moved to eleven goals – within four strikes of Jürgen Klinsmann's record haul for a UEFA Cup campaign. The Brazilian international has found the net six times in his last four outings in the competition, with his second-half penalty at the Luzhniki Stadium earning CSKA a 1-0 lead to defend in Donetsk this week.

Runners-up race
With the 24-year-old forward well clear of the chasing pack, the race is on for second place with four players tied on six goals ahead of a host of others on five, including Fabio Quagliarella. The Italian international hit the opener for Udinese Calcio as they downed holders FC Zenit St. Petersburg with two late strikes in the first leg at the Stadio Friuli. AFC Ajax attacker Luis Suárez also stepped on to the leaderboard with a penalty against Olympique de Marseille. Klinsmann scored 15 goals in FC Bayern München's UEFA Cup-winning season of 1995/96.
