Germany midfielder Tim Borowski has returned to Werder Bremen after a year at FC Bayern München.
One-year break
The 29-year-old joined the Bavarian side as a free agent last summer having previously spent his entire career at Bremen. Speaking after signing a three-year contract, Borowski said: "I had a curious year at Bayern but wouldn't want to have missed that great experience." The Germany midfielder scored five goals in 27 Bundesliga games for Bayern, only five of which were starts. "Now I am looking forward to playing for Werder and hope to get off to a flying start," he added.
Perfect fit
General manager Klaus Allofs added: "We have signed an experienced player who fits into our young team perfectly. We know exactly what we can expect from him, because he has proven his worth to Werder for many years." Borowski played in 169 Bundesliga games in his first spell at the Weserstadion, scoring 23 times and winning a domestic double in 2003/04. Last season's beaten UEFA Cup finalists return to European action in the UEFA Europa League play-offs on 20 and 27 August.
