SC Heerenveen have strengthened their squad ahead of their UEFA Europa League play-off tie later this month with the signings of Czech goalkeeper Martin Lejsal and Argentinian midfielder Hernán Losada.
'Ambitious club'
Lejsal, 26, arrives on a one-year loan from 1. FC Brno in his homeland and will compete with Brian Vandenbussche for the No1 spot. The Dutch Cup winners had been in the market for a goalkeeper ever since Kenny Steppe was ruled out for a minimum of six weeks because of a broken bone in his hand. "Heerenveen are a modern, ambitious club but also a club with tradition," said Lejsal, who has also played in Italy with Reggina Calcio and AC Venezia.
Few opportunities
Losada, like Lejsal, also joins on a 12-month loan. The 27-year-old has moved from RSC Anderlecht where he made just eight league starts last season after two successful campaigns at KFC Germinal Beerschot Antwerpen. "My goal is simple – I want to experience a better season then I did at Anderlecht," he said. Heerenveen will discover their opponents in the play-off round when the draw takes place on Friday at 13.30CET.
