Franz Schiemer said FC Salzburg's 2-0 Group G win against Villarreal CF was "beyond our wildest dreams" with the Austrian side proving Matchday 1's win at S.S. Lazio was no accident.

'Unbelievably well'
Villarreal dominated possession, but goals in each half from Marc Janko and Somen Tchoyi handed the Austrian champions all three points. Summer signing Schiemer emphasised the positive atmosphere within the squad, who have had no trouble translating their excellent domestic form on to the European scene. "Things have been going unbelievably well for us," said the 23-year-old defender. "Winning in Rome was amazing because nobody expected us to get a result, but tonight's victory was beyond our wildest dreams."

Room for improvement
While the result was dazzling, midfielder Christoph Leitgeb felt Villarreal's control of the ball exposed a failing in his side, noting: "We put in a battling performance but I think we can improve in terms of our passing game." Andreas Ulmer, meanwhile, praised his side's ability to adapt to the opposition. "We knew that Villarreal were a good side so we had to find a way to deal with them," said the former SV Ried man. "Obviously we took our chances and we're happy with the three points."

Expectation rising
With two victories over highly fancied European opposition, right-back Christian Schwegler attempted to talk down those who may believe victory over PFC Levski Sofia in their next UEFA Europa League tie is a foregone conclusion. "People are going to expect us to win now which is going to make things all the more difficult for us," he said. "Of course we want to win, but the Levski game is going to be a different proposition altogether." With Villarreal facing a tough away trip to Lazio on Matchday 3, a home win against Levski might leave Salzburg with one foot in the knockout stages. "We want to qualify," added Leitgeb. "We've got Levski at home now and we want the win. Nine points would be great."
