The Brazilian, 31, partially tore ligaments in his left knee during Wednesday's Swiss Super League draw against FC Zürich and left the field in the 35th minute. Da Silva does not require surgery but still faces "several weeks" on the sidelines. Fellow midfielder Carlitos (calf) and defender David Abraham (ankle) could also sit out Thursday's visit of the Bulgarian club as they nurse knocks picked up during Sunday's 5-4 win at FC Luzern. Basel, who are without goalkeeper Franco Costanzo until the new year, lead Group E after three matchdays.
