US Città di Palermo have signed once-capped Slovenian international midfielders Armin Bačinovič and Josip Iličič from NK Maribor, the club the Rosanero eliminated to reach the UEFA Europa League group stage.

Bačinovič, 20, and the 22-year-old Iličič have both agreed five-year contracts with the Sicilian outfit, who will meet PFC CSKA Moskva, AC Sparta Praha and FC Lausanne-Sport in UEFA Europa League Group F. The players passed medical tests on Friday, the day after Palermo got the better of Maribor in the play-off round despite a 3-2 defeat in Slovenia, with Iličič scoring the second of his side's goals.

Bačinovič has spent his entire career with Maribor, while Iličič only joined the Slovene First League pacesetters this summer following spells with NK Bonfika and NK IB Ljubljana. Palermo begin their Serie A campaign at home to Cagliari Calcio on Sunday.
