Holders Club Atlético de Madrid will travel to Norway for their UEFA Europa League Group B encounter against Rosenborg BK on Thursday without defender Diego Godín who has been ruled out for a month with appendicitis.
The Uruguayan international is scheduled to undergo surgery to remove his appendix after being rushed to hospital in the early hours of Saturday morning complaining of fever and acute abdominal pain.
Godín's absence will come as a blow to coach Quique Sánchez Flores who has regularly started the 24-year-old following his summer move from Villarreal CF. Los Rojiblancos beat Rosenborg 3-0 on Matchday 3 to move into third place in the group, just a point behind leaders Bayer 04 Leverkusen.
