FC Lausanne-Sport and US Città di Palermo will have the chance to exchange hard-luck stories as the confirmed bottom two in UEFA Europa League Group F sign off for the season.

• Lausanne were already out of the running before their 5-1 Matchday 5 loss at PFC CSKA Moskva while Palermo's 2-2 draw at home against AC Sparta Praha on the same night confirmed that this would not be their season either.

Previous meetings
• Giulio Migliaccio's first European goal won the day as Palermo beat Lausanne 1-0 in the sides' first meeting on Matchday 2. It was the Serie A side's first competitive game against Swiss opponents.

• Lausanne's only previous encounters with Italian opposition came when they met eventual winners S.S. Lazio in the first round of the 1998/99 UEFA Cup Winners' Cup. They drew 1-1 in Rome and 2-2 in Lausanne to bow out on away goals.

Match background
• Lausanne have not triumphed over 90 minutes in their last eight European encounters, having recorded four draws and four defeats.

• Both sides have conceded plenty of goals in the three games since they last met; Palermo have let in eight while Lausanne have shipped 11.

• Lausanne's 5-1 defeat at PFC CSKA Moskva on Matchday 5 was their heaviest European defeat in 38 years since they lost by the same scoreline at FK Crvena zvezda in the 1972/73 UEFA Cup first round.

Team facts
• Lausanne have the leakiest defence in the group stage, having conceded 15 times in their five Group F games – an average of three goals a match.

• Lausanne coach Martin Rueda won five caps for Switzerland as a defender, representing Grasshopper-Club, FC Wettingen 93, FC Luzern and Neuchâtel Xamax FC in UEFA club competition. Born to Spanish parents, Rueda led his side into Europe after losing the Swiss Cup final to league champions FC Basel 1893.

• Rueda played in three two-legged ties against Italian sides as a player, with Grasshoppers, Wettingen and Xamax. His record was W0 D2 L4 (W0 D2 L1 at home).

• Hired to replace Walter Zenga as Palermo coach in November 2009, Delio Rossi never rose higher than Serie B as a player, and took a while to make it to the top level as a coach. However, his reputation was cemented with a spell at Lazio from 2005 to 2009, where he won the Italian Cup in his final season.
