As the year 2010 draws to a close, Diego Forlán can look back on the last 12 months with pride.

His two goals in Club Atlético de Madrid's 2-1 UEFA Europa League final victory against Fulham FC, including the thrilling extra-time winner, earned the Spanish side their first major European trophy since 1962.

The forward's terrific form continued at the FIFA World Cup in South Africa where he won the Golden Ball for the tournament's best player after his five goals fired Uruguay to the semi-finals.

Yet before the 31-year-old can relax and say job well done, Forlán faces one last challenge. The UEFA Europa League holders have a key trip to Bayer 04 Leverkusen on Thursday, needing a Group B victory to keep their trophy defence alive.

Here Forlán talks to UEFA.com about a year to remember, as he strives to end it on another high.
