Beşiktaş JK will be without Roberto Hilbert for both of their UEFA Europa League round of 32 encounters against SC Braga this month after the German midfielder sustained a torn hamstring in league action.
Hilbert was substituted midway through the first half of the Istanbul outfit's 1-0 Turkish Süper Lig defeat by Mersin İdman Yurdu on Thursday and scans have revealed the 27-year-old has partially torn his left hamstring – an injury that club doctor Devrim Urgun has confirmed could take up to eight weeks to clear up.
The news will come as a blow to Beşiktaş as Hilbert has missed just one of their UEFA Europa League matches to date and scored the opening goal in the 2-1 defeat by Stoke City FC last September.
The Black Eagles, who play Fenerbahçe SK on Sunday, may also lose the services of their Turkish international left-back İsmail Köybaşı for the UEFA Europa League first-leg trip to Braga on 14 February. The 22-year-old, who picked up a groin injury during the same match, is however expected to recover in time for the return nine days later.
